Learn to read times at the top of the hour: 1 o'clock, 2 o'clock, etc.
The minute hand points to 6 when it's half past. The hour hand sits between two numbers.
Long hand on the 3 is quarter past — count forwards. On the 9 it is quarter to — count backwards from 12, and name the next hour.
Count the clock face by 5s: 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30… This helps read any minute.
